I was recently asked to document the launch of the School of Identity Museum at Margaret Aylward Community College, which celebrated the collaboration between three schools across the North West Dublin area (Margaret Aylward CC, New Cross College in Finglas and Coláiste Mhuire in Cabra) as part of The National Neighbourhood: Press Play.
The launch included performances by Temper-Mental MissElayneous and inspiring speeches from Helen Beaumont (National Museum of Ireland), Cllr. Áine Clancy, Emma Connors (Axis Ballymun) and Veronica Dyas (Artist) amongst others.
Over 60 students were involved in exploring notions of ‘Identity’ and the resulting exhibition included video installations, craft pieces & writing. Inspired by the work of the National Museum of Ireland, the School of Identity Museum brings the voices and ideas of a diverse group of young people together under one roof, with the exhibition ultimately exploring notions of identity, unearthing and celebrates young people’s creativity. The Museum and exhibition is curated by artists Rhona Byrne & John Conway
Images held back for press & social media images, together with those including young people, so a small selection presented here:
