Stompin’ Riff Raffs [Tokyo] came together in 2006 and are comprised Rie (bass), Miku (keyboard and theremin), Saori (drums) fronted by Nao (guitar and vocals). Their band name was inspired by the title of a French new wave movie, The Riff Raff Girls
Regular fixtures of the Tokyo underground scene since their inception while regularly touring Japan and still finding time to play internationally as they did last night [19/05/16] in The Thomas House, Dublin. Their first major release on the great Wild Records was 2015’s A Man and Three Chicks, which highlights the band’s fuzz-soaked late ‘50s sound, primarily consisting of original live staples with some few cover versions in the mix.
Good time, sweaty, R'n'R with a modern jolt of theremin, psychobilly, masquerade eye masks and a fever high pitch of dance hall party fun. A compelling live show from four of the nicest, friendliest and entertaining people.
Support on the night came from the King of Trash, Gav Icon.
