The Yurodny Ensemble was founded in 2007 by saxophonist and composer Nick Roth (a true gent who I talked the ear off one night at ¡NO!'s pre-launch listening party!), and perform contemporary interpretations of traditional music from around the world alongside new works by composers inspired by these traditions. Yurodny have released critically acclaimed albums on the Diatribe label, and performed at numerous major international festivals and venues across Europe.
The Yurodny Ensemble's core musicians are Oleg Ponomarev (Violin), Adrian Hart (Violin, Electronics), Cora Venus Lunny (Violin, Viola), Kate Ellis (Cello), Nick Roth (Soprano, Alto and Tenor Saxophones), Colm O Hara (Trombone), Francesco Turrisi (Accordion, Piano, Percussion), Dave Redmond (Double Bass) and Phil Macmullan (Drums).
Today they entertained the crowds at Hotter Than July, in conjunction with the Improvised Music Company, Dublin City Council and the Big Bang Festival, a free four hour feast of music, featuring an eclectic choice of live bands from Dublin and around the world.
