There's fun and games every night in Thomas House. However, for the serious analogue/board gamer, Wednesdays are an evening of battling with painted models on bar tables. Aren't they always!
It beats dominoes.
Not for you? I'd have thought the same. I'm not adverse to electronic games but they're generally about dexterity and quick thinking. Board games are about strategy, controlled thinking and company.
Games in your local pub isn't a new concept. Brining people together isn't either. But marry both when especially, a large number of people can participate together, and you've got something different.
Looking on in interest is good. Sports and I never agreed but I can watch most and enjoy. Most. Having an interest in something outside the 9-5, humdrum of life is interesting and I'll happily take part in anyone's sideline kicks.
I've heard about the figurine painting under magnifying glasses, the painstaking care that people take to create their board game figures (no longer pre-cast old boots and top hats), and the therapeutic nature of decorating these pieces.
Different is something that the Thomas House does well.
