Army Ants

Army Ants by Creative Steps was inspired by renowned actress Agnes Bernelle, and the cabaret/theatre world of 1930’s Berlin into which she was born. Set to music by Tom Waits, Army Ants combines jazz, contemporary dance and physical theatre. The production of Army Ants coincided with CoisCéim Dance Theatre’s production 'Agnes' in the Project Arts Centre, Dublin, which portrayed the life and work of Agnes Bernelle and the enormous influence she had on the Irish theatre and cabaret scenes of the late 70’s and 80’s. This work followed Creative Steps' rehearsals through to their opening performance night.

This photographic essay followed Creative Steps through rehearsal evenings through to their opening performance.
