GPs Seek Option of Salaried Post

Several members of the AGP argued for salaried GP posts as an option. Both Dr. Pat Crowley and Dr Jim Stacey proposed such an option should be available within the new GMS contract, calling for “a salaried option, well structured, and with full pension.”

In related discussions, Dr. Mary Grehan called for a mechanism for the sale of a GMS practice and both she and Dr Terry Maguire called for a transparent fee system. Out of hours work issues were highlighted by Dr Michael Fay.

A motion was proposed and carried that the GMS contract should be urgently renegotiated in total.
